>>4296646i understand why youd say that anon, i would like to explain why i sometimes dont get full coverage of every band member and some of my thoughts on shooting hardcore shows tho :-) (sorry for autistic rambling). i pick a single spot to shoot and stay there, typically next to or on top of a bench to the side of this stage. it's a safe place to put my camera bag under so i can quit shooting and mosh if i want to. i also don't move around much because people, myself included, don't really like it when a photographer gets in the way of the freedom of movement. I've seen some photographers do some annoying stuff in the middle of the pit that completely interrupts the show's energy. as long as the camera is in my hands i prefer to stay out of the way, that way people dont have to look out for me when they're moshing and my gear doesn't get smashed. sometimes i manage to get a good photo with the full band in frame or where the drummer is the main subject and sometimes i dont. front of stage is also where all the action is. as much as i appreciate the drummers, vocalists and people moshing or stage diving in frame typically makes for a more interesting photo. maybe i could invest in and experiment with a wider angle lens than 28mm to circumvent this.
