Higher resolution is going to have smaller apparent "grain" noise, but how hot spots are processed and interpolated affects the texture and color of the noise, as does the jpeg engine. Olympus has unusually vibrant color algorithms, an aggressive sharpening filter when you turn it on, and characteristic sensor noise from the processor that is usually pretty consistent at a given ISO.
This is a pretty heavy crop of the worst it gets at max iso, unprocessed. Not the best example but the only one I have on me. I find it grainy but usable when resized, at least compared to cameras where the noise reduction eats everything. I have a little project I'm going to try at more reasonable high ISO settings when I get the time.
