>>3201677>>3201701>>3201707>>3201709I started on and still use the a5000 which is pretty much identical to the a6000 but half the price and a little lower on specs
I'd never recommend the Sony Range for beginners for a few reasons
1. All the stuff the other guy said is true- batteries are trash, video makes the whole thing overheat, it's far too light (not a good thing) etc
2. Sony menus are fucking ridiculous for pros, nevermind beginners
3. Sony are knocking it out of the park with tech but their lenses are still generally shit, the only decent ones are 50% more than comparable models on Canon/Nikon
Most importantly
4. Sony have always and will always stick to the shitty Gillette business model of giving away their body cheap but restricting the compatibility of lenses, batteries, accessories and anything else they can get away with. This reason alone has put me entirely off of sony and despite the fact they're at the cutting edge making great technology they're just a plain old shitty company who want to fuck the consumer any chance they can
Yes, mirrorless is great if you're a specific kind of beginner (I was) and the market is somewhat shifting that way, but ultimately you still want a DSLR if you're the general beginner because it offers far more functionality, future proofing, past compatibility and options when you finally grow up
That said, I bought my A5000 for <£200 so for the cost of a mobile phone you can essentially compete with the pros in some areas, so there's something to be said either way
