>>2905101I did a 35mm B&W wedding pic first up, using the canon raw converter plugin, Print Studio Pro, which I had to print twice because the first one upscaled itself, thanks to a hiding checkbox.
Then I did this colour 645 scan, which I decided would fit on the page at 600dpi. No joy from the Canon plugin, so I tried printing through GIMP.
Worked great, once I realised I had to tell it I was using a Canon paper to get small margins, then make it manage colour with the ICC profile.
>if how I'm doing this sounds pants-on-head retarded, please tell me, I am a total novicePic related is 100% crop of the scan on the left, which I sent to the printer as is, and the same area of the print itself (shot with one direct flash off to the side, the highlight at the top of the sign isn't blown out, it's just caught glare) on the right.
Not too bad, I reckon.
Still, a black and white wet print shits on this for sharpness and detail and tonality, seriously ignore internet shills who would say otherwise, I can't believe I took that bait so hard myself.
