Learn how high your camera's ISO can go before it loses it's shit.
Set a negative EV - Seems counterintuitive, but by telling the camera to take dark photos it's not trying to produce something much brighter than it even is, keeps shutterspeed a little higher, and generally produces more realistic results. Adjust in PP
And/or use spot metering and learn what to meter for, and how to lock exposure (AE-L) or use manual, before recomposing and shooting.
Brace the camera, preferably against things that can't move even a bit. If not available then against yourself. Sniper breaths and squeezed button.
