Hi /Cameras/
I need to decide between buying a 24-70 lens for my A7II or getting an RX-100-IV
A little Background: I do portrait and only shoot with prime lenses so far, but occasionally I find myself in need of a zoom for more "dynamic" situations, like when asked to take pictures at a venue or wedding by a friend.
The zoom lenses I used so far were quite disappointing, except those for landscape. Even the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM Lens didn't quite cut it, though thats comparing the incomparable as I only use prime outside named "hobby" sitations.
The only options for the A7ii are a "kit lens" for 300 (which is not an actual option with build and lens quality) and something like the Zeiss 24-70 f4 or simliar. But I dont really like the idea of spending 1000-2000€ for a lens I'll rarely use.
I kind of "stumbled" on the RX-100-IV during my reasearch, as image quality seems quite astonishing for a 1 inch sensor. The technical features like RAW, ND-Filter, s-log and complexity of settings suprised me as well.
Additionaly I really like the idea of the low key look I'd have with such a small camera, so far I've felt kind of like a "disturber" with my full dslr rig when shooting at such venues.
I havent't used a point-and-shoot camera for <5 years though, and I have no idea what to expect. Is the quality comparable to let's say a dslr without any bokeh? The RX-100-IV has a 1.8-2.8f lens, but what does that mean for a 1 inch sensor? f5 or so? Will I disappoint people who ask to shoot knowing the pictures I took so far?
I'd be glad for any input regarding the decision or even alternatives I might not know so far. I'm especially interesed into those who can say something about the color quality of the pictures. Sorry for my english, it's not my mother tounge.
Regards,
flexivity
