I think firmware reset was kind of bad wording. I most certainly did use it right away after fixing it but he was able to make some fine-tuning adjustments to make it scan sharper and better. And he lubed just the right spots to make it way quieter. The thing uses vacuum tubes and whatnot so there are settings he can go into with his diagnostic software and have the scanner re-adjust as the tubes change their performance over the years.
Price was closer to the 5D option.
Eh, I worked on VWs so it's the poor man's German car. Probably better built and more reliable than some of the more luxury ones. I owned a new golf for a while back when I worked on them, but now I have two 20 year old vehicles (one is a creeper van) that get me around the continent pretty well.
