for video, at least. crop always has faster readout than full frame. for stills crop can't compete and never really will. it's not possible, as optics have to be sharper for smaller sensors to produce the same image size as larger ones. among the reasons why cramming 61+ megapixels onto full frame is getting increasingly nowhere as well.
