You're right, I never played with the tonal curve myself.
Well rawtherapee does the job well, probably better than if I tried myself for now.
I still have to learn how to use it. So far I've been using it to crop, use the horizon tool and play with the levels by trial and error.
I was afraid I had to clean the mirrors or the sensor.
