Notice how many of these rely entirely on either color, shapes, or subject/meaning. Notice how few of the ones that rely entirely on color are the result of extensive modification of the existing colors in post.
These are photographs taken by photographers, rather than pictures polished by "color-graders." And they work much better because of it. They are not disposable images for some magazine that will only be read in a doctor's office. These are iconic photographs that have and will stand the test of time because they are well executed in the moment of their taking. Their handling in post is irrelevant.
