>>3197552I finally got a shipment of gear in. A filter kit, that Manfortto lens support, and an ultra cheap Neewer ring light. I popping on some stacked macro/closeup "filters" and did some testing with the light. It works pretty well. Instead of 5-10 second exposures, I can get as fast as 1/100 at f/8 and ISO 100. The DoF is great now that I can go all the way to f/36, but of course it is fuzzier. I might use the higher f-stops with some live subjects where I can't focus stack, but for everything else I'm sticking to f/8 for that great clarity then just focus stack.
Here's a couple test shots and info about them.
Now that I have the lens support, I'll be able to use my extension tubes again and not fear snapping them off. I ordered a 2-lens coupling ring, but it won't be here until next month. The last one I ordered was the wrong size and was only a step up ring; all the seller's fault on Amazon. Hopefully, there isn't a repeat of that.
The only thing I don't like about this light is that everything is ultra plastic. It'd be nice if the adapter rings that came with it were metal.
