>>3886732>One from the MQ silverWhat's that, MQ silver?
There's no silver left, either in slides or negatives, after processing. It's just dyes, all silver is bleached+fixed out. The only way to have leftover silver is with incorrect development, and then yeah you'd get "softer" results cause you'll have an unwanted layer of silver adding density where it shouldn't. But this goes equally for slides and negatives.
Do you have his quote btw? His knowledge was immense but sometimes people take his words a bit out of context.
>If development has to be changed to achieve this it's practically a moot point, but still interesting.Yeah that's what I said too.
>where do you see an example of Portra 160 out resolving Ektar or Velvia?About Ektar it's true so you can find examples (or at the very least that Ektar doesn't outresolve Portra despite the smaller grain), but for Velvia it's not true I think, so there are no such examples. Here's an image of a close enough test that I found, even though it uses the older Portra VC emulsion.
It shows that while Ektar has finer grain, it doesn't have higher resolution than Portra (and actually it's marginally worse).
