Sony shifted so that most jap games would be censored, having scenes removed and characters redesigned because the new Sony management thought it was "problematic". Most people didn't give a shit because the Nintendo versions of the games would be uncensored, until they announced that all games that would be published through Sony would undergo censorship.
That means all versions of the game, jap or not, Nintendo versions and pc versions would go under the same censorship through the California division.
One big game that the japs love is Senran Kagura and Sony released new screen shots of the new Senran Kagura game. Immediately they noticed the censored difference and one jap, who was denied his big titty ninja, was so pissed off he typed out on Twitter with his broken English "fuck snoy".
