>>2661581i really love insects and birds. also the occasional landscape of course. i rarely stake out a particular spot, what i prefer is to go on hikes and take photos opportunistically. to this point i've been using a coolpix s9700 with which i took the attached photo of a snake. it's not a camera fit for birding obviously. would also like to expand into some night sky stuff if possible, which is what attracted me to getting a full-frame, for the ISO performance.
one thing i'm worried about is getting a very high megapixel camera and having problems with noise. 22.3 seemed like a decent number.
i've gotten some good feedback on my stuff and people have approached me for portraits (which is why i got the 100mm f/2) so i'm thinking of turning this hobby into a small side business but even if i don't, i'll keep shooting in nature.
adding all that up i wanted to get a solid portrait lens, a good telephoto lens, and a macro lens. i'm reconsidering my purchases anyway and thinking i could scrap the portrait lens and macro lens and go with a telephoto macro. one less lens to carry.
the only other thing, i have absolutely no brand loyalty, but i really like the canon menus, ergonomics, and some of the design choices they made. i find nikons to be a really aggravating experience.
what do you think?
