>>3854763Im fairly sure these weren't stolen goods necessarily. A lot of the stuff I score good deals on are byproducts from a small side hustle on camera repair I have while over the road. Great example.
Go look up one of these lenses for sale, I dare you. In Nikon mount. Steinheil Munchen 135/2.8 Auto-D. I found this in a $200 lot of photo equipment I found on FB Marketplace. It was in a bag with a Nikon Photomic F, 28mm Soligor, 105/2.5 silvernose Nikkor and some other 3rd party lenses that weren't worth anything.
I did a full CLA on the Nikon and sold it with the 28 for 150 on eBay, then sold my AI-s 105 2.5 for 150 and CLA'd the silvernose one because I like the older one's rendering better. I do all my own CLA's and most of my own repairs, the F needed a basic one with new seals and lube, got all the shutter speeds working properly on it and sold it to some guy in San Francisco.
The Steinheil I kept for myself as well. I didn't know they were worth as much as they are but I knew that Steinheil Munchen was founded by a man who apprenticed under Carl Zeiss in pre-Nazi Germany. Much of my equipment was acquired in this way, some I outright bought and paid market prices for like my other Photomic F
