>>4173597>Like hotcakesLol not really. Think of it this way:
In Japan, fujifilm cameras are pointless. They bill themselves as compact and retro, but olympus has kept the same styling they had in the 70s and is much smaller and easier to carry around. Fujifilm gear is nearly the size and cost of full frame gear. And yet fujifilm cameras do not take sharper photos or have more dynamic range or editing latitude. They do better videos. The X-T5 and X-H2 cost significantly more than comparable full frame cameras that take sharper photos but should really be the same price. To japs this is a poor value proposition... if you want video just buy a panasonic, or a canon. It will be cheaper.
But in the west, we have this culture called hipsters. It's described with words like retro and twee. And it's about being a poser, appearing to be interested in old things and ways but actually enjoying peak modern convenience (every hipster has an iphone). In japan the "hipster" is actually genuinely traditional and still uses a flip phone see? Fuji appeals to these people, the posers.
And then panasonic is coming up behind them for the people who actually want better video (the GH6 still mogs literally every fuji bar the X-H2s - for video AND stills!). Olympus isn't as popular because they weren't as much of a household name in the west and their MFT cameras are really small and uncomfortable to use for white hands.
