I own a 1DX and it's my walk around camera now.
Had/have a 5D2 back in the day then started getting a lot of live music gigs.
1DX's autofocus was invaluable and i bought mine before the 5d3 was available.
It was the only camera at the time that offered dual card slots so i could shoot multi format/redundancy etc.
Biiiiig-ass battery. One battery would last me a whole day of shooting. over 1000 frames sometimes.
The vertical grip with duplicated controls lets you operate fast and you can set af points to follow your orientation. Also means you don't look like a spaz with an elbow up in the air shooting portrait. this is great when you're in the pit at a concert and don't have room to wave your arms around.
The thing is tough. Gets knocked about all the time without care. Takes light rain like a champ. Travelled all though Europe with me and racked up 13k frames. Fell 3ft onto concrete once and all that happened was the vertical af-select button got squished in and stopped working.
They are workhorses and mine has been 100% dependable.
