The M5 is probably the best Leica to ever go into production and yet it is hated because it doesn't look look a Leica. Leica fags are just like the /o/tists who screech "mu heritage" when Porsche changes the 911 slightly. The M5 could have led to an over all improvement of the system but instead it signaled a step into the past and nothing but a collector market. If you look at the M6 prototype from Canada, with a proper film door instead of the bottom loader that even digital Ms try to replicate, had the prototype gone ahead Leica might still be a professional camera today.

if the parts are even available they are repaired with used parts from dead cameras. so the replacement photocell is the same age and just as prone to failure as the one it replaced.
