The great thing about kids, too, is they generally haven't learned to posture. Nor do they care about it. Tell them to "pose" for you, and you're still going to get a genuine emotion, not something trite and practiced. Kids are genuine.
So maybe try being genuine back. Stop treating and shooting them cynically like you do adults. Involve their parents in it when relevant. Or just...don't be creepy in the first place.
