Or go medium format. Here's hp5 pushed 2 stops in fucking rodinal 1+25. Allegedly the worst possible combination of combinations with orange peel grain out the ass on 35mm. A little vitamin C would compensate even more and make it buttery.
Making a film beloved for its grain less grainy is a big ask. I'd try some things and see what you like because it sounds cool, but I have a feeling you're going to have to switch developer, film, or format to get what you want.
