Just imagine the marketing department advertisng the battery life spec and market their cameras as far more energy efficient than the other brands.
It could have been disruptive to the whole camera market if 800+ CIPA rating was the standard for all of their APS-C cameras, while their compatitors were struggling to reach 300 CIPA.
Alas Sony opted to go easy on the others and weakened the 6100 and 6400.
