I realize that what I'm doing is dumb and it won't actually result in noticably better photos, but the fact that I'm leaving a slight bump in image quality on the table all while having worse ergos and screens (the screens being a part of the reason to transition to mirrorless as my eyesight continues to worsen)
I basically always shoot base iso. I have been even shooting at extend 50 when I shoot at night on the a7riii after watching that Gerald Undone video about it. But knowing I could get native 64 and save 2/3rds of noise in the shadows is killing me every time I take a photo it's all I can think about.
Picrel didn't make the keeper cut, but it is a typical example of what I am shooting and the conditions I'm shooting in. To help you understand why I'm so fixated on that base iso improvement.
