If you go back into the 60's and 50's there were even more good manufacturers and cameras like Franka, Kodak AG, Plaubel, Braun and Ihagee. Very many high quality mid-range cameras between them - even system cameras - The Rolleiflex SL35 was a more mechanical predecessor to the CY series, with an equivalent lineup of German-made lenses, with none of the overengineerd clumsiness of the Contarex, for example.
