the true alternative is that you convert an old DSLR, you can get some of the effect by simply putting an R72 filter on your lens. Though not all cameras are IR sensitive so test your camera with a TV remote first, pump up the ISO in a 1000% pitch black room and shoot the remote at the camera, it the camera picks up the light from the remote it is IR sensitive and the R72 will give you some of the colour IR effect
