>>2634258I'm guessing it's because of economies of scale, there's still a whole lot more DSLRs being made than there are mirrorless. But yeah, you should compare teardowns of a DSLR and of any mirrorless camera. Mirrorless cameras tend to be built in a very modular way with much fewer parts so you would think the manufacturing would be a lot cheaper. If I remember right the original A7 has like a tenth as many parts as a typical DSLR.
And what I never understood about the lenses for m43 is how random the pricing feels. Stuff like the 12-40 f/2.8 is truly a hell of a lens yet it's much cheaper than a FF 24-70 f/2.8 while the 25mm f/1.8 is good but not incredible or anything and it's all plastic and it costs like 3 times what a nifty 50 costs.
