I don't understand what aperture actually does (shutter speed too in fact)
When I look it up I see charts saying that lower aperture is less things in focus and higher is more things in focus, but when I try it on my camera barely anything happens when I spin the aperture wheel except for the image getting brighter/darker
And it's even more confusing because the only noticeable thing shutter speed does is make the image brighter/darker too and the dumb charts say something about motion while most of the things I test manual on are standing still and not moving at all
At the very least ISO is automatic on my camera's manual mode so I'm gonna leave it at that, maybe I'll get to it when I understand the other two
Needless to say my photos look dogshit in comparison to auto
How do I figure this out
