Faint things like the dust lanes of M31 don't just come out of SNR, do they? If I'm subtracting read noise via biases and darks, am I actually getting signal if it's not past some threshold?
To keep up on where andromeda would drift through the frame, I just took long exposures to see where stars were going, so I had a few. Here's one 10s sub.
