Going out and taking photos makes me go out and do things I wouldn’t otherwise and view things in a different light. But we differ in that I do like to review and edit my photos; I just don’t particularly care if other people like them because it’s personal to me. That’s also part of why I like film because the production of the photo and the end result are separated. I like just enjoying taking photos and then I can consider the results later. With digital I always feel compelled to take photos for the sake of the end result, if that makes any sense, and I get worse photos as a result.
A question I have for you is whether the in/tangibility of the artifacts from your process are important to you. Obviously, shooting film cameras without film is silly, but what does accruing the results of your work mean to you? Even if it is to just destroy or burn them, that can be meaningful as well. Are you anxious about your work being perceived or do you just not care? At the end of it all, what form does your body of work take?
