I set a cup on the counter, and took two photos. One with a 35mm, and one at 140mm.
The cup didn't move, and I didn't move (more than a little, because who can be bothered to set up a tripod for a shot in the kitchen)
Obviously, the photos are WAY different. Much wider field of view from the 35mm, and when you came into this conversation, you were under the impression that the wider angle photo (35mm) would have a lot more "pop" and distortion, due to the lens.
