Unless I'm misunderstanding you here, you're saying that spending more money makes more sense, because a larger dollar amount will be deducted from your taxes, even though in total you're spending more money. ie, spending $1000 is better than spending $200 because you can deduct $300 from your taxes due rather than $60. Which nets out to spending $700 vs $140.
