>>3457451>>3457445Also here's my other idea for moving the vf/film plane closer to the aperture thus reducing flange distance. The green blobs are springs that would move them between the thick and thin positions. The vf would automatically move to the thin position once the mirror has stopped flipping back after a shot, and the film plane would quickly snap there after the mirror moved out of its way when taking the shot. The red dots are little locks that would hold onto the moving unit very tightly so make sure they're aligned properly. This whole mechanism would be factory produced and embedded in a frame like the one I just posted. Then all the camera would need is a mount, a film back and some opaque material on the sides to block lights. Those could be 3d printed. I know this would make the camera pretty slow, but no one's shooting quick action with manual focus medium format slrs anyway.
And as 3d printing won't produce super precise results the mount could be biased towards sacrificing a bit of close focus distance in favour of retaining the ability to infinity focus.
