What mirrorless does is it finally takes advantage of that crutch instead of just sticking some CCD/CMOS shit right where the film was. All of a sudden you can have a loupe in your viewfinder, make fresnels obsolete with electrical gain, enjoy one less point of imprecision/failure, and if you don't use a baby mount, get some really compact lenses.
