The distance is only 4 miles, but I think the lighthouse and buildings on the big island in this non-telephoto pic are more visible in IR. I post processed to exaggerate the IR effect.
I recently got into infrared with my old (2004) Sony F828 and the price of a Hoya R72 filter. Briefly touching a magnet to a spot on the bottom of the lens moves an internal IR filter out of the way. I learned this from a YouTube video. The lens is 28-200mm equivalent.
The F828 is just an 8 megapickle camera, but the result has been great fun. Photo stitching can get you greater resolution. Like having a new camera for free. Auto focus and exposure work normally and the camera can do raw. Surprisingly, my two old Sony batteries work fine. Now thinking about converting a Sony A7II for IR.
