I ground some fused silica discs to make diffusers for my lighting setup, but I find the light is still pretty harsh, while simultaneously being too dim at a distance. I'm not sure whether I should double the power and get new lights (out of the question cost-wise right now), or find other ways to diffuse. The difficulty is in determining which materials will transmit UV without too much loss.
