I thoroughly recommend getting native fast glass but there are other options. My most used lens for festival and large gigs is a Jupiter 135mm f2.8 with a Mitakon Speedbooster, making it roughly a 200mm f2. It's a challenge working with such thin depth of field on manual focus but you can get some gorgeous shots with it. I really want to upgrade to the 40-150 f2.8 but as you may have guessed, I earn nowhere near enough from this to justify that! Also no, f5.6 at indoor lit venues will be useless. I really recommend the 45 1.8 and the 20 1.7 though since they can be both be found incredibly cheap. The 20 is crap at autofocussing on the EM5 so I would always use the 17 1.8 over it, but the price difference is obviously enormous.
