I bought a used XE-1. It is my only digital camera, and I only use old minolta md/mc lenses because I already have them, and I'm on a tight budget too. The image quality is top, but it's quite hard to find the right focus. The view finder has a fucusing-help, but it's really not that good, especially in low light. Also you can focus beyound infinity which bothers me the most. I got a m39 adapter recently, because the rokkor lenses are very big for the small fuji body.
I would say it depends on how you do Photographs, if you take your time for each shot, you will be fine.
