Stupid question: It seems like a lot of photos I take with my Nikkor 70-300 4.5-6.3 are slightly out of focus to the rear. Even with single point AF, carefully locked onto the subject. Is my lens out of whack and is there a good way to test this? I got it used and I know it's a cheap kit telephoto that isn't very sharp, but this feels like a consistent problem. I never miss focus to the front, it's always slightly behind the subject which makes me think there is something specific wrong with it. Or maybe I'm just a bad photographer that's possible too.
Pic related: This crow was super still, I have single point AF on, plenty of time to focus on the eye, and it's even at f8, so it's not even wide open. And it still definitely missed focus to the rear.
