A flatbed film scanner will set you back roughly $200 and will give you decent enough resolution for web and normal sized prints (~5MP).
A dedicated film scanner will set you back roughly $300 and give you ~16MP of resolution (big prints).
Either option will give you much better control over your images in terms of colour, contrast, noise, etc. .
Your choice.
