>>4056785yeah agreed about going tighter too. i think the 28mm was just better for that particular area but a lot of my other wide shots aren't really anything special since there's too much in the frame. it's a better focal length when you're up close but i'll be pretty far away from things on the trail. i also have a 50mm f2 that i think i might bring instead then, more for the low light capability than anything over the 40mm, though it is a little bit heavier.
