The idea that culture should be prescribed by a ruling class or something adjacent or proximal is distinctly medieval. It's closely related to religion, and the idea that the king is ordained by god and therefore the closer an institution is to the king the closer they are to divine truth. I'm not buying it. God isn't real, and wealth and status, especially under capitalism, do not confer the right to claim that you are objectively the standard and correct version of a human being by which all others are measured.
