I've started with a Tamron 70-300/4-5.6 and it was good enough for me. Stop looking for excuses, go out and shoot!

Pic related, taken back in 70-300 days.

I have it, and it is great. Sharpest around f/8, decent speed AF.

I used it for walkaround wildlife photography and it was great (though lack of range and light caused me to eventually upgrade). Whenever I put aside my 600mm lens and hold this one, I can't believe how light it is.

All in all, great lens, had lots of fun using it. I would definitely recommend it.

I can upload couple pictures I've taken with it.
