When you guys go out shooting and have a camera on a neck or shoulder strap, do you also keep a hand on the camera at all times? I ask because I noticed that if you do this without holding onto the camera, it's bouncing around with every step, either against your chest or against your waist with a cross body strap. I don't like that; I feel like I'm hurting the camera, and it's uncomfortable to be smacked with a camera with every step. But if you have to keep a hand on the camera either way, then what's the point of the strap? Might as well just hold the camera then and use a wrist strap to make sure you don't drop it, no? Or is it only so you don't have to hold the camera when you're standing still?
This is probably really autistic but I am relatively new to shooting and I can't figure it out.
