>>3501528>>3501525>>3501521First of all, thank you all for critique.
For the gear side, you say that I need some fast prime for such shots? I do planned lately to buy two lenses - Nikkor 35mm 1.8 prime and Sigma 70-200 2.8 for stage shoots. There are also options for Nikkor 85 1.8 and Sigma 105 2.8 primes but Im not sure. I cant afford all 4, max one another aside from that 35mm prime (which is relatively cheap). All used if course, for 3/4 price.
About using flash, I did invest in one (Younguno model, really nice so far) but I only used it twice, on family dinners and reflecting light from walls. When tried using build in flash for lightening faces, it instead removed them completely, even with negative flash gain (-0,3 and -0,7 ev). How to properly use mounted flash to fill faces then? Should I invest in those softboxes attached to flashes or I can make one myself?
I must say that Im a bit afraid of wide aperture in portraits now - almost every photo I do is slightly blurred in 100% zoom and I have no AF tune option in camera. With values like f/2.8 or 1.8 I could easily lose focus completely. Any solution for that?
Also, how to properly train for such events? I mean, you mentioned that I should analyze the composition but since its mostly "on the walk" event, I have to do it fast so obliviously need training. Shooting people in city center can result in losing tooth or two. There will be convention soon in my city (in two weeks) and I really want to do better.
Oh and about portraits and such - how to properly utilize rule of thirds here? In case of fountain for example, girls were positioned on the side, along the line (crossing around their eyes) but you mention that they should be moved a bit. So, to keep them between the lines, with horizontal on eye level? How about full body portraits instead of waist up?
Sorry for asking so many questions and thank you again for your advice. I really do want at least try to get better.
