WHY do all other brands still allow Sony to get away with the A6000?
For fuck's sake I try to suggest other cameras to people that want to get into photography more seriously (and for everyone else the second option is another Sony, the RX100), but there's really zero competition in that price range unless you're already invested in another brand.
It's a Nikon D7200 for 400€. This alone kills off Canikon. Pentax isn't an option for a beginner because getting their heads around the sect that Pentax has became isn't a good thing, and they'd have a hard time finding third party/used glass. There's just Fuji with their own game over there, and they have legit cameras in that pricerange, but that's it.
Why is this a thing jesus christ. Sony cornered a huge portion of the market with the A6000 in 2014 and the RX100 in 2012, all other producers went "YES, THIS IS FINE" and kept churning out cheap as shit compacts, or super expensive compacts with no benefit over the RX100, or shit entry DSLRs nobody wants or shitty mirrorless cameras that don't compete. It's just... there, Sony took it and we don't want it.
I mean all that Canon has to do is pick the 80D sensor, put it into a mirrorless with good controls and okay features, BUNDLE IT WITH AN EF ADAPTER and call it a fucking day, it would take the market in a year because all that Canon has to do is "An A6000 with native support for the shit barge of EF lenses laying around".
