>>2678328It's really hard to say. in poor lighting conditions, it is unlikely that your point-and-shoot was shooting at a shutter speed fast enough to capture a lightning bolt mid strike. Yet that's definately what it looks like in your picture. Was it as dark out as it seems in the picture? This is one I took at night out my window a few years ago, but my exposure was around 2 seconds or so. Capturing a lightning strike in progress is really difficult because after some research it takes about 1/1000th of a second for the bolt to form. While a shutter speed that fast is well within the range of most DSLR's, the fastest reaction time that humans can attain on average is 1/4th of a second. So with the exception of dumb luck, a person can't expect to manually catch a lightning bolt mid-strike. I hope that helps
