The plain fact that a lens element is roughly 80-95% transmittance means that the more there are the less light gets through to the sensor. Lens elements also let through different wavelengths of light at different rates. Sensor glass thickness can be looked at as the most basic of lens elements (flat & unavoidable). If you can't follow that train of logic then I'm afraid you might be mentally deficient.
