>>4019944It has way more to do with magnification, quality of optics in front of the EVF panel, and eye point. All of which are a joke compared to most competing cameras in this class. You'll notice this the most if you are a glasses wearer, it looks like you're looking through a straw.
For example, try going to a camera store and use an X-S10 and an Olympus E-M5iii back to back. On paper, they have identical EVF specs. But when you actually use them, the E-M5iii's looks clear and massive in comparison. Same with the Nikon Z50. Big bright pleasant EVFs for $1k cameras should be the norm at this point.
Does it matter that much? I guess that depends on the user. I used an X-T2 for years and compromising that much on EVF quality on a brand new $1k camera was just super disappointing.
