I've been doing a deep dive on point and shoot cameras from 2008ish era. Some of those cameras produce great images and can be had for like $20 free shipping on ebay.
There really is something to the CCD sensor and lower mega pixel count. The dynamic range and colors seem way better than they should.
The canon powershot a590 has manual controls and sells for $20 on ebay all day long.
