Exposure isn't that complicated, the guy will go on and on about esoteric shit that you should take into account when setting exposure, when it's just as simple as making a judgement about what you're willing to overexpose/underexpose in your image based on the kind of film you have. You'd have to have the IQ of a bonobo's foreskin to think that you should spend $200 on something that you can figure out through trial and error, instead of putting it into film and a nice weekend out.
Outside of that, read a book from one of the greats I guess.
