when i cut back white/black levels it increases contrast and saturation in the image. how do I do it in such a way that the image looks normal in the end? do I need to just decrease contrast and saturation some arbitrary amount based on how much I cut the whites and blacks?

i had a great workflow with canon/magic lantern where i assigned "+1 star" to a single button. i can then filter to good shots in post

AMAZING

since I take a lot more junk shots than good shots, this makes much more sense then deleting images
